Bangalore Metro crosses 4 lakh ridership mark

The number of passengers on Namma Metro crossed the four lakh ridership mark for the first time.

The record ridership was down to the One-Day International cricket match between India and Australia and the beginning of the long weekend that extends until Monday.

According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), a total of 2,37,580 passengers travelled on the Purple Line while 1,72,470 passengers travelled on the Green line, taking the total to 4,10,050. The three lakh-mark was breached on June 19, the first day when the entire Phase-1 of Namma Metro started operations.

On that day, a total of 3,07,543 passengers used the services.  On Thursday, BMRCL had also extended the duration of services on both the lines until midnight in view of the cricket match at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
