Hyderabad Metro Inauguration: HMRL releases dos and donts list

Three weeks ahead of the launch of a 30-km stretch of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) from Miyapur to Nagole, officials have put up a list of dos and donts.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has issued several such rules, including one that says that pets were not allowed on board the trains.

The Times of India reported that the list also states that a person cannot linger on at metro rail stations after alighting from a train or squat at a station. Besides that, the general ‘dos’ of keeping the premises clean, and informing security of suspicious activity are also mentioned.

“When there is an emergency announcement, evacuate the Metro Rail premises. And do mind the gap between the platform and the metro train while boarding and disembarking the train,” the ToI report quotes one of the instructions as stating.

The HMRL also made it clear that ticketless travel was strictly prohibited, and was a punishable offense.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao instructed officials on Tuesday to take steps to rename the Metro Railway Station at Moosapet Y Junction as the Ambedkar Junction Metro station.

KCR had issued the instructions after a meeting with Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Malkajgiri MP Mallareddy and other TRS leaders.

In September, Telangana Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao said that the 30-km stretch of the HMR would be ready by November 20, adding that he was hopeful that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate it on November 28.

“The inaugural ceremony will take place at Miyapur Metro depot and the PM may take a ride from Miyapur to Ameerpet. The state government is keen that PM Modi inaugurates the Metro rail project. Not only because the Hyderabad Metro is the biggest Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the world, but also due to the fact that it’s being executed by Larsen & Toubro, an Indian multi-national company.

The Prime Minister’s Office has not yet given a confirmation on the inauguration date. If it is not possible on November 28, the TRS government will wait for another date for Modi to come and inaugurate,” KTR had told media persons.
